THE STAR OF IMPEACHMENT
Algol in the constellation Perseus has a reputation of being the most evil and difficult star. According to the Greeks, the star is the severed head of Medusa and is used by Perseus to save Andromeda, as well as his mother. Arab astrologers called it “the Head of the Demon.” The star’s Chinese name means “Piled-up Corpses.” Talmudic Law interprets her as the first wife of Adam who left him because she refused to be submissive.
The star implies passion and intensity of feeling that can be used for creative purposes or in savage rage. This is the strong, unyielding, and passionate power of the lover or seducer. If the consuming passions are not satisfied, anger, rage, revenge and control issues can develop. Controlling and directing one’s passions positively can lead to great accomplishments. But one must not ‘lose one’s head’ (self control) or dire consequences follow.
It signifies a loss of position or the loss of something or someone; in the case of presidents it denotes impeachment. Accidents, injuries, and misfortune can happen; in the direst of circumstances hanging, strangulation, or death by severed head.
The star was located at 230 Taurus 30’ at the time of Andrew Johnson’s birth in 1808 with his Moon at 290 Taurus 23’. Andrew Johnson was the first president to face impeachment. Popular sentiment in the North and Radical Republican resentment of Johnson’s southern sentiments and his usurpation of presidential authority led to impeachment proceedings in 1868. The Senate fails by one vote to impeach but Johnson’s political base is destroyed and the Democratic Party refuses to run him in the November election.
This bit of historical fact would have missed my eye since most astrologers employ a stringent 10 orb (margin either side of a conjunction) for stars. But a Serbian astrologer, Smiljana Gavrancic, wrote an informative article for the NCGR GEOCOSMIC JOURNAL (Spring 2018) about Algol and the impeachment of United States presidents that perked my interest. Only two other presidents besides Johnson faced impeachment and both have Algol relatively prominent in their horoscopes.
Richard Nixon would have been successful impeached for the Watergate affair but he prevented this by resigning from office. Nixon’s Saturn position (the law and punishment) is 270 Taurus 29’ and Algol’s position at his birth is 240 Taurus 57’.[1]
Bill Clinton was the next president to face impeachment for the Monica Lewinsky affair but he shrewdly chose a humiliating public apology instead. Clinton’s Moon (women, emotional desires, public opinion) is located at 200 Taurus 18’ with Algol a little over five-degrees away at 250 25’.
The fourth candidate for impeachment is (‘you guessed it’) Donald Trump. President Trump’s Midheaven of leadership, reputation, and career accomplishments is 240 Taurus 18’, a mere 10 06’ from Algol at 250 Taurus 24’! There is no guarantee that impeachment proceedings will be successful but the Mueller investigations are likely to uncover illegal business dealings by Trump involving Russia. Trump has kept the book closed on his tax records and with his Mercury/Neptune square of deceit and illegalities being triggered during his 72nd year, according to my Diurnal Planet for a Year Direction, the odds are pretty high that major mistakes and a turn for the worst are in store for the President.
