Jupiter/Pluto 2020: The Great Transition

JUPITER/PLUTO 2020: THE GREAT TRANSITION AND TURNING POINT

The synodic cycle of Jupiter and Pluto officially formed when these two heavenly bodies joined in conjunction on 4/5/2020. This date and the events that surround it mark the beginning of a grand cycle lasting about twelve and a half years. It takes place in three phases: the first in April and the second when Jupiter is retrograde peaks June 30. The third and final aspect is November 12 during the American elections. The significance of this conjunction varies from nation to nation but a core theme or meaning can be extracted from the historical record.

One theme is massive deaths – think corona-virus. I predicted in March that June would be a deadly month for the virus due to the lunar eclipse falling on Mars and transiting Saturn retrograding over the Sun in the U.S. Covid-19 horoscope (see Pandemic and Covid-19 Update on my website astrobill.com). A spike in cases has indeed taken place in 20 states and is likely to get worse through the remainder of June as more and more people let their guard down and continue to congregate in large groups.

Another theme is aggression and warfare. India and China recently clashed over a disputed area on their border. North Korea is acting up in a menacing way toward the South. Russia and China are both taking advantage of the pandemic to advance their geopolitical ambitions. I doubt if war will result from any of this but it points to a U.S. confrontation with both of these countries sooner or later.

A mass migration from the Middle East to Europe and from Mexico and South America to the United States continues although tighter immigration in host countries and the Covid-19 pandemic have slowed the migration.

Ecological disasters are another theme; the hurricane season may be particularly destructive this year. Russia is battling a huge arctic diesel spill from a ruptured fuel tank at a power plant that is threatening a major waterway and nature preserve. An unusually warm spring caused the frozen ground to give way and compromised the tank. President Putin declared a state of emergency because the plant serves a vast industrial complex that produced one-fifth of the world’s nickel and half the world’s palladium.

The death or removal of powerful leaders is another possibility. President Trump may lose the election and claim it was rigged, possibly even refusing to leave the White House as a result. And the next president might die in office. Every American president that has died in office did so during Jupiter/Saturn conjunctions in earth signs. I predicted back in 1977 that the president elected in 1980 might die in office based on the first Jupiter/Saturn conjunction in an air sign after a long string of conjunctions in earth signs. The conjunction in Libra was 12/30/1980 and Ronald Reagan was elected president. He was shot by an assassin but survived. The next conjunction 12/21/2020 is at 00 Aquarius 29’, less than a degree from leaving the earth sign Capricorn!
State crime and corruption come up time and again during this planet combo. Both parties are trying to get the dirt on the other but if Trump’s tax returns are revealed heads will turn. The racial protests over police brutality are a cry for social equality. The mantra “black lives matter” has resonated around the world and is morphing into a strong cultural/political movement that could sway the next U.S. election. Civil rights issues, new laws, and potentially more violent clashes will intensify around the Jupiter/Uranus square of 1/17/2021. A watershed moment is coming, a movement is now forming, and it will culminate in great reforms or widespread bloodshed near 4/20/2024.

In the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic and economic shut-down, stock prices plummeted and millions of people lost their jobs – upwards of 40% may be permanent. The economic recovery will be much slower than the government anticipates. Measures beyond the CARES act will be needed to support our ailing economy as companies, industries, and consumers adapt to a totally new lifestyle. Extreme or unusual regulatory laws may be needed to shore-up failures in the economic system as the world struggles to recover from a world economic crisis that begins near January and February 2021.

Our democracy is in peril, not only from a dysfunctional government but by radical groups and foreign nations bent on fomenting rebellion in this country and by those who would betray the constitution. Extremist philosophical groups and the bitter divide separating liberals and conservatives bridges several planet combinations, most notably Saturn/Pluto (see 2020 Triple Conjunction under Newsletters on my website astrobill.com), but the grand triple conjunction that we bear witness to is particularly unique. Rarely do three planets form in conjunction like this when two of them, Saturn and Pluto, are simultaneously on their south nodes. This is a grand historical moment – a great cultural turning point.
